Emperor gets standing ovation at Toronto
Alex's score to EMPEROR starring Tommy Lee Jones and Matthew Fox had it's red carpet premiere the Toronto Film festival today. Alex, along with Tommy Lee Jones, Matthew Fox and director, Peter Webber, attended the screening which was greeted with a standing ovation by the Toronto audience. The score was conducted by Alex in Wellington with the New Zealand Symphony. The film will be released by Lionsgate in 2013. Watch this space for more news.Face to Face Project Goes Live!
Alex's FACE TO FACE project goes live on the web today bringing together the diverse talents of Regina Spektor, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Yasmin Levy, Matthew Barley, Tunde Jegede and Kawesa in a series of one-on-one improvised duets with Alex. Face to Face was created in locations ranging from Abbey Road Studios to Kampala, Uganda, to a disused factory in the Bronx and London's Tate Modern Gallery. The album was beautifully recorded by Grammy Award-winning producer Peter Henderson (Paul McCartney, Jeff Beck) and Flood (U2, Sigur Rós, The Killers).

Alex has won the Ivor Novello Award for Best Film Score of the Year.
The ceremony was held in London at the Grosvenor House Hotel. Other awards were presented to Adele for most performed song and songwriter of the year, Mark Knopfler, for the lifetime achievement award, Siouxsie Sioux, Ed Sheeran and Gary Kemp of Spandau Ballet. Andrew Lloyd Webber was made a fellow of the British Academy - it's highest honour.
This is the second time Alex has been nominated for an Ivor Novello Award.Alex scores film for Olympics
Alex has scored the film BOY which will be shown at the opening ceremony of the new velodrome building at the 2012 London Olympics.
The film which is directed by Justin Chadwick and stars Timothy Spall will also be shown around the Olympic village and on British Airways throughout the summerNAACP Award Nomination
Alex has been nominated by the NAACP for his score to The First Grader in the category of Best World Soundtrack Album.
Established in 1909, the NAACP is the USA's largest civil rights organisation. The 43rd NAACP IMAGE AWARDS will be held at The Shrine Auditorium in LA and telecast live on NBC.Black Reel Awards Nomination
Alex's score to The First Grader has been nominated for best score in the Black Reel Awards. The Black Reel Awards annually spotlights the best African-American performances in theatrical, independent and television films.
World Soundtrack Award
Alex has won the Discovery of the Year Award at the World Soundtrack Awards in Ghent for his scores to The Rite and The First Grader. He will be returning to Ghent next year to perform at the annual WSA concert.
Also receiving awards at the ceremony were composers Hans Zimmer and Alexandre Desplat.
CBSO Concert Perfomance
The City of Birmingham Symphony will perform a concert suite from Alex's score to THE RITE at Symphony Hall Birmingham on the 23rd July. Anthony Hopkins will be attending the concert and overseeing performances of his own concert music too.

Alex's score to RED RIDING HOOD (with producer Brian Reitzel - Lost in Translation) is in cinemas now. The film is directed by Catherine Harwicke (Twilight) and stars Amanda Seyfried and Gary Oldman. The original soundtrack album is available on Water Tower Music. Inside Job wins Academy Award
INSIDE JOB (featuring Alex's score) has won an Academy Award for best feature documentary. The award was received by director Charles Ferguson and producer Audrey Marrs. This is the second time Alex has scored the winning film in this category at the Oscars, the first being Kevin Macdonald's 'One Day in September'.The Rite now playing in theatres
THE RITE has opened in US theatres at the No. 1 Box Office spot. The film is directed by Mikael Hafstrom (1408) and stars Anthony Hopkins, Rutger Hauer and Ciaran Hinds.
